Setting Description: Write
a Setting Description
In this lesson, we are going to write
a setting description. If you need any help throughout this lesson you can use the following link to support your learning: Lesson support
You will have the opportunity to write about a
destination of your choice. It could be somewhere you have been; somewhere you
would like to go or even somewhere from your imagination.
Word of the day: Majestic:
beautiful, powerful or causing great admiration and respect.
It would be great to see this
word of the day and those from last week in your writing if you can.
Remember these important things
when describing settings:
- · Describe the place through the characters senses (help the reader feel like they are there) What could they see, hear, smell, even taste if they were there?
- Consider the period of time that it is set. Is it ancient, futuristic or in modern times?
- · Make a list of adjectives to describe your story location.
- · How are you going to start your description – take ideas from the examples you have been looking at over the past week.
- · Consider the structure of your writing – what will you include in each paragraph?
Use
these as your steps to success:
Using
all these ideas write your own descriptive setting.
